Anahita and I had a great day planting at the Saskatoon Food Bank Garden Patch on 3rd Avenue and the 900 block. The Seed for Change project was given a rather nice plot at the very front of this huge garden. Again, the intentions that accompanied the photographs that individuals either emailed or sent via Instagram are included with each plant. The handwritten intentions have garnered lots of positive responses and interest.

Seed For Change Garden at the Varsity Community Garden
This past weekend, I was able to transplant the Seed for Change plants that I had begun in my studio. these seeds were a direct response to the documented changes that you, the public hoped to see when you forwarded your images to me. Subsequently, I both catalogued your images and transcribed your intenions onto strips of Tyvek that were place onto garden pegs next to each individual seedling.
I have also planted additional seeds directly into the soil for those of you that would also like to participate. In order to do so, just check out my previous blog post that describes how you can participate!
On Wednesday, I will be planting another garden into the Saskatoon Food Bank Garden Patch!I am so excited!

You are All Invited to Participate in a Relational Art Project Called 'Seed For Change'
Seed For Change
My current project called Seed for Change, is a public
participatory art project. I am
exploring how small simple gestures for positive change can inspire ripples
that extend far beyond the original source and propel others with waves of
transformational change.
Starting with
simple instructions provided through the use of
social media, direct contact and by poster distribution, I have reached out to both local friends and individuals around the world. Many have responded
enthusiastically to my directions, emailing back images depicting strategically
positioned notes that articulate the changes they wished to see. These changes were either social, cultural,
environmental, economic or personal. In
addition to having collected and catalogued all these images, each intention for change was handwritten onto separate Tyvek strips and attached to garden pegs that were inserted into the seedling pots. At the optimal time, the plants and their accompanying garden pegs will
be transplanted into the Saskatoon Food Bank Garden Patch and the Varsity Community Garden . Once the
vegetables are ready for harvest, they will be distributed appropriately to the
Saskatoon Food Bank and the Friendship Inn in Saskatoon for donation.
What propels
this work forward, is my belief and fascination in the premise that humanity is
consciously interconnected and indeed interconnected with all of nature and the
planet. I believe our thoughts both positive and negative, create the world
and universe we live in. With the small
action of thinking about a positive change and creating a photograph that documents the change that a person hopes to see I propose that we have
the power to transform and inspire, no matter how great or how small these
intentions appear at first. As this project is still ongoing and developing,
your participation and collaboration is welcomed. Ready to start… your own ripples? If you would like to participate, you can do so in three easy steps:
1. Write a brief sentence about the change you would like to see(Social, Cultural, Environmental, Economic or Personal)
2.
Place the note in a location of your choosing.
3. Either Instagram it back to me at #seedforchangeproject
3. Either Instagram it back to me at #seedforchangeproject
or

Don't miss viewing Ann Donald's exhibit at Calories on Broadway!
Last Saturday I helped Ann Donald hang her lovely floral paintings at Calories Restaurant on Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon. Not only is this body of work joyful, energetic and colourful, but Ann indicated that these paintings held special meaning to her as she created each one. Each painting is a personal celebration of friendship. I hope you will get a chance to see and experience Ann's gorgeous paintings!
